IN FLAMES, DISMEMBER, EVERGREY, MESHUGGAH, OPETH In The Running For Swedish GRAMMIS Award
November 26, 2008IN FLAMES, DISMEMBER, EVERGREY, MESHUGGAH and OPETH are among the artists that are competing for the "Best Hard Rock" honor at the Swedish Grammis awards, which will be held January 7, 2009 at Hovet in Stockholm. The bands are all in the running to be nominated for their most recent releases, all of which came out during 2008.
The award is partly based on votes. Of the ten acts in the running, only five will be nominated as official candidates for the award.
The following artists are up for a nomination:
* CULT OF LUNA - "Eternal Kingdom"
* DISMEMBER - "Dismember"
* EVERGREY - "Torn"
* IN FLAMES - "A Sense Of Purpose"
* MESHUGGAH - "obZen"
* MILLENCOLIN - "Machine 15"
* OPETH – "Watershed"
* SABATON - "The Art Of War"
* THE HAUNTED - "Versus"
* TIAMAT - "Amanethes"
Last year's Grammis award in the "Best Hard Rock" category was won by MUSTASCH for the band's "Latest Version Of The Truth" CD. MOTÖRHEAD drummer Mikkey Dee presented the award to MUSTASCH, who beat out such veterans acts as CANDLEMASS, ENTOMBED and CLAWFINGER for the honor.
